21st Annual POW-MIA Sweet Ride
Sunday, April 25, 2027 · 10 AM · Caldwell, Idaho
About this event
Most memorial rides honour the dead. This one rides for men who were never accounted for at all.
The Boise Valley POW*MIA Corporation has run it for two decades, and the name is not a boast about the roads. The ride finishes in the town of Sweet, up in the hills past Emmett.
Before an engine is started there is a Missing Man Table: a place laid for one, formally, and left empty. Then riders head out of Caldwell through Parma and Payette and back along the Payette River valley, and at each stop they draw a card carrying the name of a serviceman still listed as missing. The hand decides the prizes. The names are the point.
Money goes to the National League of POW/MIA Families and to the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise. Entry is twenty dollars in advance, twenty-five on the day. There is a barbecue, live music and an auction at the far end.
It is farm country and high desert, easy going, and open to anything with wheels rather than motorcycles alone.
