The venue makes this one. Party At The Pen is held inside the Old Idaho Penitentiary, a decommissioned prison in Boise, with bikes displayed across the grounds and tattoo artists working inside the maximum security cell block. The show leans to sixties and seventies machines and the chopper end of things, with vintage cars alongside. There is an American Motor Drome wall of death, tin-type portrait photography, vendors, food trucks and beer. Ride-in ticket holders get early entry and are eligible for the awards — those passes are limited and go first. Organisers bill it as the largest vintage motorcycle show in the Northwest. It is a public show rather than a club event, and the rules reflect that: no colours or patches, no weapons, no outside food or drink, and no pets that are not service animals. Under twelves come in free. It is the western counterpart to the original, which runs at the old reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio.
