Bentley’s 17th Annual Ride-In Bike Show

Sunday, June 13, 2027 · 9 AM · Arundel, Maine

About this event

Most bike shows of this size are run by a promoter. This one is run by a racing driver who bought a one-room bar. Bentley Warren, seven times champion at Oswego Speedway and a short-track name in New England long before that, took the place on in 2004 and spread it across eighty acres of Route 1 north of Kennebunk — two bars, a courtyard, stages, a campground and a six-room motel — on the stated principle that bikers and non-bikers should both feel welcome in it.

The show itself happens in the front car park. Registration runs through late morning, winners are called by mid-afternoon, and there are eight classes covering everything from pre-1965 antiques through baggers and big-wheel baggers to sidecars and trikes, with two hundred and fifty dollars and a trophy for Best in Show.

The house rules are the giveaway. Bikes are judged on quality, not on brand, model or who owns them — and, in the same breath, the judges may not be completely sober at all times. Coastal Route 1 riding either side of it.
