2026 Texas Airstrip Attack (Abilene) by AZ Cycle Parts
October 17–18, 2026 · 8 AM · Abilene Regional Airport, Abilene, TX · Abilene, Texas
About this event
Standing half-mile racing on an airport runway, which is a different proposition from a drag strip: no tree, no prepared surface, just a long stretch of concrete and a trap at the end measuring how fast you were going when you reached it. Bikes and cars run side by side against each other for terminal speed. The series treats this one as its closer because the runway here is the longest it uses all year, which is why records tend to fall at it. Spectating is cheap and the vantage point is unusual — you are stood beside an active airfield watching machinery accelerate for half a mile without lifting. Racer entry runs into the hundreds and includes crew passes and a class entry; watching costs about what a cinema ticket does, with children admitted free. Abilene is flat, open west Texas, which is exactly why the airfield works for it.
