2026 Hill Country Pig Roast and Toy Run
October 9–11, 2026 · Blanco County Fairgrounds, 7HRX+M8, 619 US-281 · Johnson City, Texas
About this event
This is a rally that exists to pay for a different event. In 1983 fewer than a dozen riders around Johnson City started asking local merchants for toys at Christmas. By 1992 the asking was not raising enough, so they roasted a pig and charged people to eat it. The toy run was formally established in 1994 and took charity status in 2008, and the October pig roast has funded it ever since.
The money goes to the Cherokee Home for Children, along with a youth scholarship and help for Hill Country families. The 2025 weekend raised over twenty thousand dollars, which bought gifts and stockings for more than forty children. The run itself happens in December, when a caravan of bikes and vehicles follows Santa to the children's home.
The rally sits at the Blanco County Fairgrounds in LBJ country, granite and cedar, west of Austin. Thirty dollars at the gate, camping free, no showers. Live music on two nights, a bike show, a poker ride, weenie bite and slow races, and a free barbecue with the roasted pork on the Saturday evening. The organisers call it an old school bike rally and mean it.
