About this event
Maggie Valley sits in a mountain valley a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and this rally makes straightforward use of that. It runs on the town's festival grounds — an open-air site rather than a street closure — with three bands a night, vendor rows, a bike show and bike games both carrying thousand-dollar cash prizes, and an organised tour ride out onto the Parkway itself. Sunday morning brings a free pancake breakfast and a church service, which tells you the tone: the town bills it as family friendly, and it is a good deal smaller and calmer than the big coastal rallies. The same organisers run three of these a year on the same ground — spring, summer and autumn — and the autumn one has the leaves working in its favour. Cherokee and Asheville are both close, and the roads between them are the reason most people are in that corner of North Carolina at all.
