Chaos Riders MC put this on in Jasper, and where the money goes is the part worth knowing: it goes to families in the county who need help getting through the holidays. Not a national charity with a logo — the people down the road.
Lee Newton Park suits it. It is a town park rather than a fairground, with a creek running through the middle of it, a stage, open grass to put a tent on and two walking loops for anyone who wants to stretch their legs off the bike. The Pickens County Veterans Memorial is on the same ground.
Friday afternoon through Sunday teatime. Vendors, contests, karaoke and a rodeo, which is a combination you either want or you do not.
Jasper sits at the foot of the north Georgia mountains, so the ride up is half the point — this is the county where the pavement starts getting interesting, and Ellijay, Dahlonega and the Blue Ridge roads are all within an easy morning of the park.
