44th Annual 50cc True Grits Fun Run
Saturday, October 24, 2026 · 9 AM · Two Wheels of Suches, 1915 GA-60 · Suches, Georgia
About this event
The roads around Suches are the reason litre bikes exist in Georgia. This run bars anything over 50cc.
Ben Cheatwood, then Honda's district sales manager, invented it in 1982 as a way of shifting unsold MB5 stock, and it became the longest-running small-bike rally in the country. The course is sixty-odd miles of mountain road on machines that struggle to hold a hill, which is precisely the joke. Entries have run past a hundred and forty: MB5s and NS50s, Aprilia RS50s, Yamaha YSRs, Derbis, the occasional sidecar outfit and an MV Agusta stepthrough. Costumes are expected. A fire engine and a hearse have led the parade out.
Two Wheels of Suches is a motorcycle-only campground on GA-60 — lodge rooms, eight cabins, year-round camping, a restaurant. Frank and Jeannie Cheek founded it as Two Wheels Only; it closed in 2010 and Bill Johnston, who had been riding these mountains since the early nineties, bought it and reopened it.
The sweep truck carries jerry cans, because a 50cc tank does not reach the far side of Blood Mountain and somebody always finds that out the hard way.
