Run by a combat veterans' motorcycle association chapter out of Baton Rouge, and held at a waterfront pavilion on the bayou rather than a car park, which makes it a more pleasant place to spend a Saturday than most charity events manage. Friday evening is a meet and greet. Saturday is the day proper, with live music, vendors, food trucks, a scavenger hunt, an auction and a judged bike show carrying three awards — best in show, people's choice and judges' choice. Spectator entry is cheap and putting a bike in the show is cheap again, slightly less so if you leave it until the morning. The chapter is a veterans' organisation in the formal sense and the money raised stays with veterans. The spelling of the name is theirs, not a typo. Plaquemine sits on the west bank below Baton Rouge, with the river road running north and south from it.
