About this event
The trophies at this one are made out of motorcycle parts, which tells you most of what you need to know about who turns up.
The Antique Motorcycle Club of America's Deep South chapter was put together in 2016 by Gary Barker of Long Beach, Mississippi, who filed the charter application that November with about thirty founding members behind him. The chapter covers Louisiana, Mississippi and southern Alabama, runs five associate groups from Lafayette through to New Orleans, and meets every other month at a different venue. There is a spring ride named after Barker now.
The swap meet runs the length of the day on the Slidell waterfront at the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, with one vendor space free to anyone who wants it and setup from noon on the Friday. The bike show costs five dollars a machine and takes anything twenty-five years old or more across six classes — American, British and European, two Japanese, unrestored original, and custom. The entrants judge each other's bikes, so it is friendly rather than concours.
Flat bayou riding, and a day for people hunting a part rather than a road.
