Leslie W Watson 46th Annual Toy Run Benefit Party
September 10–11, 2027 · Clarksville, Tennessee
About this event
Most toy runs are an afternoon with a sack of presents strapped to the back seat. Clarksville's grew a three-day party alongside it, and the reason the organisers give is simply that a party is what Les would have done.
Bikers Who Care, founded by Bill Langford, ran the first Leslie W. Watson memorial toy run in 1982: about a hundred motorcycles, each rider carrying a toy for the fire department's Christmas drive, out of respect for Watson's memory and the kindness he had shown people. By the twentieth anniversary some three thousand bikes were riding it, the largest toy run in Tennessee. The club has since given more than $300,000 to the Dream Factory of Clarksville, and fully sponsors Camp Rainbow, a week at Land Between the Lakes for seriously ill children.
The September weekend is the benefit party rather than the ride — pit bike and drag races, a ride-in bike show, swap meet, bands, and motorcycle camping thrown in with the ticket. The run itself comes later, in November, with Santa on a motorcycle at the head of it.
