LA County Fire Hogs M/C 11th Annual Memorial Ride
Saturday, May 15, 2027 · Santa Clarita, California
About this event
The Fire Hogs were started in 1991 by Los Angeles City firefighters and claim to be the oldest firefighters' motorcycle club still running. This ride belongs to the county chapter rather than the city one, and it is held for the county's own dead.
It begins at Fire Station 126 in Valencia, and the ceremony happens before anyone rides: a memorial on the apron in front of the apparatus doors, with the bikes lined up behind, already loaded. Then the run goes out through the Santa Clarita valley and finishes at the Route 66 Classic Grill in Canyon Country for lunch.
Membership of the club is restricted to serving and retired firefighters and other safety personnel. The ride is not. The Fire Hogs say plainly that all riders are welcome whatever patch they wear or do not, which in the world of fire and law enforcement clubs is worth saying out loud.
Money goes to the Los Angeles County Firefighters' Widows and Orphans Fund. The roads are easy, suburban valley and Soledad Canyon, and the pace is a procession rather than a run.
