Finger Lakes Bike Rally

About this event
A young rally — the first edition drew over a thousand people and several hundred bikes — held at the Boars Nest on Route 414 at Hector, on the eastern shore of Seneca Lake. The format is straightforward: live music, vendors, food and drink, organised rides out into the surrounding country, and a wall of death as the headline attraction. It is small enough that you will see the same faces twice, which is much of the appeal while it lasts. The setting does the heavy lifting. Route 414 runs the length of Seneca Lake past a long line of wineries and breweries, the gorges at Watkins Glen are a few miles south, and the roads between the lakes are quiet, fast and genuinely scenic — this is some of the best riding in New York State and much of it goes unnoticed. Check the dates directly with the organisers before travelling; listings have varied.
