Most manufacturer open houses keep visitors on the right side of the shop door. DK Custom Products opens the machine shop and the packing floor and walks people through both, so a rider who has bought a tank lift or a coil relocation kit can stand and watch the next batch being cut.
The company has made aftermarket Harley parts since 2008 under the line "For Riders – By Riders", out of Hickory Flat in Benton County, north Mississippi — red clay hill country and quiet two-lanes, around fifty miles southeast of Memphis. The founders appear on their own site only as Devin and Kevin, which is where the initials come from, and they take questions live on the day.
Admission is free and so are the breakfast and the barbecue lunch. There is a bike show in five classes — Sportster, Dyna, Softail, Bagger, Trike — and two prizes that tell you exactly what kind of gathering it is: one for the furthest travelled, and one for the bike carrying the most DK parts on it. Biker games in the afternoon: slow race, keg roll, tennis ball on a cone.
