Murphey’s Annual Toy Run 2026

About this event

The shop at the centre of this one has been running it since the mid-1990s, long enough that the local paper covered the sixteenth edition in 2010 and described the shape it still keeps: an eleven o'clock start from Murphey's Scooter Shed on Camelot Court, a forty-mile run, and the proceeds going to children at Shriners Hospital, with a Masonic home and a local police programme also named. On that count the 2026 edition is the thirty-second. What carries it is not scale but continuity — an independent bike shop in Cleveland County that has set aside the same Saturday before Thanksgiving for three decades, through whatever the piedmont does in late November. Who Murphey is has gone unrecorded in print, which is its own kind of answer. The run itself is forty flat-to-rolling miles out of a small-town yard and back, for the toys to be counted where they were collected. No entry fee has been published; the convention at a toy run is a toy. It suits cruiser riders and families rather than anyone chasing a road.
