The December meeting is the one where next year gets decided, which makes it the odd one out in a calendar otherwise made of rides. Third Thursday, half past six, on the showroom floor at Hughesville, with the pizza the sponsor always puts out. Around this point in the year the road captains are handed the coming year's HOG calendar and asked to fill it, and members are told to send ride suggestions to any officer or through the form on the chapter's own site; head road captain Bill Mattingly leads that work, with Brian McIntyre assisting. Tickets for the holiday party go on sale at an earlier meeting, and the party has fixtures of its own — the parts game, which Mattingly won in 2023, around sixty door prizes from the dealership, and wreaths made by the Ladies of Harley to go among them. A fortnight after this meeting the chapter rides on the first of January in whatever the weather is doing, which tells a newcomer most of what they need to know about the company. The rides being planned are southern Maryland ones: Route 301, the Nice-Middleton bridge over the Potomac, and the back roads of Charles, Calvert and St Mary's.
