Chapter A, 37th Rid'n Free Polar Bear Ride & Breakfast Buffett
Friday, January 1, 2027 · Eagles Hall, 1492 Bourbon Street · Stockton, California
About this event
Thirty-seven consecutive New Year's Days is a kind of record, and it belongs to a Gold Wing club rather than any of the outfits you might expect. Chapter A of the Gold Wing Touring Association has run its Rid'n Free Polar Bear Ride every 1 January since about 1991, four years after the association itself was formed in 1987 by Gold Wing riders who organised around four words, freedom, fun, family and friendship, and who once described themselves as the best kept secret in motorcycling. The shape of the day is fixed: coffee and donuts at the Eagles Hall on Bourbon Street in Stockton, a brisk ride out into the Central Valley cold, then a brunch buffet back at the hall. Manny Bernstein is the contact. Nothing about the route is published, which suits a ride whose point is the date rather than the mileage. This is a touring crowd, a good deal of it two-up, and the whole thing amounts to a civilised way to start a year on a bike rather than a test of anything.
Is this your event? If anything here is wrong — the date, the town, the details — or you would like to add to it, tell us and we will fix it.
