9th Annual American Legion Riders Foliage Run
Saturday, October 3, 2026 · 9 AM · 279 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, NY 13820 · Oneonta, New York
About this event
A hundred and twenty miles of two-lane road through the hills around Oneonta, timed for the colour. The American Legion Riders at Post 259 have run it for nine years and the shape has not changed: register mid-morning, leave together at half past ten, ride the loop with a lunch stop at the midpoint, and finish back at the post for food, raffles and a fifty-fifty draw. Twenty dollars covers it. That corner of New York does not get the attention the Catskills or the Adirondacks do, which works in its favour — the ridgeline roads between Oneonta and the Susquehanna valley are quiet, well-surfaced and open in a way that tighter mountain routes are not. The beneficiary has varied year to year, with past editions running for a local veterans and community organisation and for suicide prevention. Worth asking at registration which cause this one is for.
