The sixth annual is about forty-six years old. Jimmy Langston — Squirrel to everyone, of Calhoun, 1948 to 2016 — and his wife Sherry ran a toy run around Monroe for more than four decades before Warhawk Harley-Davidson picked up the count from scratch, which is why the dealership's own title for it is the Toy Run Honoring Squirrel and Sherry Langston rather than anything about the dealership. Riders gather in the North Monroe Baptist Church car park on US-165 North from nine, where coffee, hot chocolate, water and donuts are waiting by half past, and leave at eleven behind a police escort for the short run down to the dealership on Frontage Road. Ten dollars or one unwrapped child's toy gets you in. Cars and jeeps are welcome and ride behind the bikes. The flyer carries one rule and it is worth reading before you shop: no stuffed toys. Flat twin-cities roads at parade pace with nothing to navigate — a run where the point is the length of the line rather than the length of the route.
