5th Annual Dustin J Knapp Memorial Car & Bike Show

Saturday, August 21, 2027 · 9 AM · Whitelaw Village Park, 100 S Main St, Whitelaw, WI 54247 · Whitelaw, Wisconsin

About this event

Dustin Knapp had done his time in Afghanistan and come home. He was killed walking down a street in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, two days before he was due back on duty.

He was twenty-three. He had served with the Army out of Fort Lewis, around a year of it in Afghanistan, and he held a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was home on leave from a second tour in August 2010 when a vehicle struck him. The 14th Military Police Brigade gave him honours at the funeral.

Patriot Riders of America, Wisconsin Chapter 2 out of Manitowoc, run the show in his name and send what it raises to Desert Veterans of Wisconsin at Green Bay. It is a static show rather than a ride — ten dollars to enter, registration through the morning, trophies at three, raffles and silent auctions, a food stand, a DJ and a free corner for children. Flat Manitowoc County farmland, inland off Highway 10.

Six days before he was killed he had bought the car he had always wanted, a 1965 Mustang. His father restored it.
