5th Annual Choteau American Legion Poker Run

About this event
A Legion poker run usually raises money for veterans. This one has put it into the electrical service at the Choteau Rodeo Grounds, and that is not a misuse of it: American Legion Post 6 has run the Choteau Independence Day Rodeo for close to eighty years, so the rodeo is one of the things the post is actually for.
Ten dollars a hand, cash for the best three. The post keeps half the entry money and says so openly, and Commander Jerry Collins will answer the telephone about any of it.
The route is the reason to come. It works the bar circuit of Teton and Pondera counties -- out to a wildlife sanctuary at Bynum, on to Pendroy, across to Conrad, down to Brady and back into Choteau -- two-lane the whole way, with the limestone reef of the Rocky Mountain Front standing up on the western horizon for most of it. Nothing in it is technical and all of it is worth the fuel.
One caveat worth reading twice: the post's own wording invites cars and pickups alongside the motorcycles. Expect a mixed field, and expect to be behind a pickup at the third stop.
