About this event
All-female rides are often a group of friends with a route and a hashtag. Virginia All Female Ride went and incorporated. It is a registered nonprofit with a committee, and the money it raises has named destinations: Worthdays, which works with children in foster care, and Safe Harbor, which supports survivors of domestic violence.
The founder's name is not something the organisers put front and centre, and their own tagline runs to four words, one ride and one experience. What they have built in four years is a weekend rather than an afternoon. Friday evening meet, Saturday organised ride, Sunday to get home, now based out of the Stonewall Harley-Davidson dealership at Ruckersville in the Blue Ridge foothills north of Charlottesville, which puts good mountain road within easy reach of the start.
Earlier editions ran out of Richmond and through Ashland, so the move to the foothills is recent and deliberate.
The number to hold onto is the one from 2025: over three hundred women riders expected. For a four-year-old event inside a single state, that is a large group ride by any measure.
