47th Annual Mid Atlantic Police Motorcycle Rodeo
Sep 30, 2026 – Oct 3, 2026 · Dulles Town Center, 21100 Dulles Town Cir · Sterling, Virginia
About this event
This is a motorcycle competition where going fast is mostly beside the point. Motor officers take full-dress police bikes through precision cone courses at walking pace, and a foot put down costs you.
Corporal A. D. Johnson of the Prince George's County police started it in 1979, as a way for motor officers across the region to sharpen their handling and get to know one another. He was killed in an on-duty motorcycle crash in 1982. The committee that runs it was incorporated in 1988 and still operates as a non-profit of serving officers.
Three days of practice at Dulles Town Center lead into the competition itself — cone work, speed runs and team slow rides. Midway through comes the Chris Yung Challenge Ride, named for the Prince William County officer killed in the line of duty on New Year's Eve 2012. Proceeds go to HEROES, Inc., which supports the families of fallen Washington-area police and firefighters. A Harley Road Glide is raffled at $50 a ticket, capped at 1,500.
Worth a spectator's afternoon even if you have never ridden anything with lights on it.
