38th Annual Western PA Pittsburgh Toy Run

About this event
Thirty-seven years of riders turning up at a VFW post outside Pittsburgh with toys strapped to their bikes. Twenty dollars cash or a new unopened toy of equal value gets you in — no stuffed animals — and everything collected goes to local children's charities at Christmas. Two police-escorted group rides feed into it, one leaving from North Versailles mid-morning and a Harley Owners Group ride from Greensburg shortly after, but plenty of people simply ride in on their own. The post lays on refreshments, live entertainment and door prizes, and there is a draw for cash among pre-registered riders plus a plaque and a charity donation for the largest pre-registered group. Entry includes a year bar pin, which regulars collect. It runs rain or shine over a few hours in the middle of the day, which makes it easy to combine with an afternoon in the Allegheny valley.
