ABATE Christmas Party & Toy Drive 2026- of PA, Pike Co Chapter
Saturday, December 12, 2026 · 8 PM · 875 Route 6 · Shohola, Pennsylvania
About this event
December in the Poconos is not riding weather, and Pike County Chapter 41 does not pretend otherwise. ABATE of Pennsylvania's Pike County people hold their toy drive indoors and treat it as a party: eight until one at the 6 West Bar and Grill on Route 6 in Shohola, twenty-one and over, a live band, light food, a cash bar that is cash only, and one new unwrapped toy per person at the door or ten dollars instead.
The organisation behind it exists because of a law that took effect on 13 September 1968, when Pennsylvania made helmets mandatory. Scott Hart of Reading led the group that rallied at the capitol through 1976; the repeal was lost in 1990, 1991 and 1992, won in 1998 and vetoed by Governor Ridge that December, and finally settled when Ed Rendell signed in July 2003. Tyler Germann coordinates the chapter now, and it meets on the last Thursday of the month in a pizza restaurant in Matamoras.
Shohola Falls is at 874 Route 6, across the road from the bar, dropping over its ledges in the dark while the toy pile grows by the door.
