35th Annual Salute to American Veterans Rally
Friday, August 20, 2027 · TBD · Cripple Creek, Colorado
About this event
Plenty of rallies put a POW/MIA flag on the banner. This one grew out of nothing else: a few riders around Colorado Springs who wanted prisoners of war and the missing remembered properly, riding together until it became something a town had to make room for.
Pam Wear of Pro Promotions has run it through most of its life and the shape has not drifted. There is a remembrance ceremony with invited speakers, a Veterans Poker Run, live music, and a Veterans Signature Wall that attendees sign. Admission is free. Proceeds have reached more than 350 charities over the years.
The image people come back for is the procession — better than 1,500 motorcycles moving together up through the Rockies into Cripple Creek, a gold-rush town whose main street is barely wide enough to hold them.
It suits veterans, the riders who ride alongside them, and anyone who wants a rally with a reason attached. Worth confirming the venue before setting off: it has alternated between Cripple Creek and Woodland Park in past years.
