17th Annual Kristen's Ride

Sunday, September 12, 2027 · Littleton, Massachusetts

About this event

Most charity rides outlive their cause. This one outlived its founder. Kristen Hoenshell was nine months old when she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a muscle cancer behind her eye. Her parents, Liz and Frank Hoenshell, started the ride to cover what the diagnosis was costing the family, then turned it outward to other families in the same position. Frank died in 2016. Liz has run it since, and Kristen is in remission, still followed at Dana-Farber and Massachusetts General.

The money goes three ways: to families carrying a cancer diagnosis, to research, and to scholarships. Twenty-five dollars covers the shirt and the food.

Riders register at a cinema car park in Littleton and leave on a seventy-five-mile loop through the Nashoba Valley back roads, the whole pack held behind a police escort for the full distance, which makes it a reasonable first group ride. It ends with four hours of food, music and raffles at a club in Ayer.
