16th Annual AOH Car Show

About this event

This is a car show that lets motorcycles in, not a bike show, and a rider is better off knowing that before loading a trailer. Bikes are welcome as entries and always have been, but no class list is ever published, awards are decided by participant vote across all classes, and the only numbered category the organisers name is a youth judging class. The hosts are the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St Patrick Division 1 — the Virginia Beach chapter of what the order itself calls the oldest and largest Irish Catholic organisation in the country — and the proceeds go to the Sisters of Poor Clare and to scholarships for pupils at Catholic High School and St Patrick's School. Who started the division's show, and in what year, is not published anywhere the division controls. It runs on school ground at Catholic High School on Princess Anne Road, which produces the two house rules that tell a visitor most about the day: no alcohol and nothing in glass, and every vehicle on display has to carry its own fire extinguisher.
