Most charity rides die quietly when the dealership that hosted them loses interest. This one was a Ventura Harley-Davidson fixture until 2019, and when it lapsed the Rowdy Ones, an all-women club, picked it up rather than let a long-running event end.
Everything raised goes to the Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation, which Lisa Barreto started in November 2007. She had been diagnosed in 2002 while studying at Ventura College, and the group grew out of the college's own breast cancer advocacy circle. It remains the only all-volunteer organisation in Ventura County working solely on breast cancer education, advocacy and support.
It is a point-to-point rather than a car-park event. Riders gather in Santa Clarita and finish at a dealership in Camarillo, a canyon run across the Santa Clara River corridor, with a bike show, raffles and a long row of food vendors at the far end.
