Toy Run 2026 - Apple State Harley Davidson HOG & YWCA

About this event
The charity at the end of this run exists because of a refusal. Yakima's women organised their YWCA at a mass meeting in the First Methodist Church on 17 November 1909, a year after the men's YMCA opened and, by one account, declined to let them use its gymnasium for basketball. The state secretary sent down from Seattle, Frances Gage, told them to come back with five hundred members; they came back with five hundred and seventy-five. It is now the county's domestic violence agency, and its chief executive Cheri Kilty puts the problem plainly — Yakima County has the highest rate in the state, and more than a thousand families have gone without a bed. Riders have been bringing toys since 1981. The Harley Owners Group chapter at Apple State on North 1st Street stages it, kickstands up at ten for a fifteen-mile police-escorted lap of the city with the streets shut behind, and the entry is one new unwrapped toy. Santa leads it on a Harley rather than a sleigh. Beanies, scarves, towels and gift cards are wanted as much as toys.
