Thunder-Rode BikeFest
May 14–16, 2027 · 102 E. Beale Street, Kingman, · Arizona
About this event
Nothing here goes anywhere. Thunder-Rode is a motorcycle accessories and leather shop on East Beale Street in downtown Kingman, which puts it directly on Historic Route 66, and for three days it turns the street outside into a market rather than a start line.
The shop publishes no founder and no founding story, so the event has to be taken from what it does. Around forty vendors take pitches in what they call the Biker Street Market, ten dollars a table for the whole weekend and fifteen with electricity, alongside bands, open mic, karaoke, a beer garden and food. Admission is free, which for three days is unusual enough to state plainly.
The oddity is the Miss Thunder-Rode pageant, run in instalments across the weekend: an introduction round on the Friday, semi-finals on the Saturday, the crowning on the Sunday afternoon. The winner takes the cover of the shop's bike calendar and a gift every month of her reign.
For a Route 66 tourer this is a natural waypoint. For anyone hoping to ride, it is a swap meet with a stage.
