The Spring Crater Rally
May 13–16, 2027 · Texas
About this event
Most rallies that lose their ground quietly stop happening. The Crater Rally lost Durango's Canyon at Mount Enterprise when the land sold, and instead of folding it moved to Welch Park on Lake Somerville, with the city of Somerville on record welcoming it. The 2026 edition was the eleventh, which makes this spring's the twelfth.
Blowout Biker Productions, out of Houston, runs it and has kept the old-school shape intact: live concerts, stage contests, bike games of the sort that need a clutch and a sense of humour, a bike show, vendors, a poker run, and camping on site for the whole weekend. The organisers recommend it for twenty-one and over, which tells you most of what the evenings are like.
The setting is the part worth riding for — a lakeside park in central Texas, tents pitched under the trees, the stage running on into the dark and the water a short walk from the campsite.
It suits a rider who camps rather than books a room, and who would rather be at a rally than at a festival with motorcycles parked outside it.
