About this event
The charity is thirty years older than the ride. Alan Belcher, a Vietnam combat veteran who came home and qualified as a counsellor, founded what is now Veterans Path to Hope in 1996 — the food pantry, the housing help, the peer groups and the counselling all came first, and the motorcycle run only started around 2019. So this is not a ride that invented a cause for itself. It is an established organisation that eventually worked out a few hundred riders could fund one specific thing. That thing is New Horizons, the transitional living house the charity runs in Hebron: the 2025 run was raised explicitly for essential items and renovations there, so the money buys beds and building work rather than disappearing into overheads. Staging is the McHenry VFW post on Route 120, kickstands up at nine on the last Saturday in June. Registration cost was not published. Flat McHenry County farm and lake country out towards the Chain O'Lakes, easy enough for a first group ride, and a charity you can go and look at afterwards about forty minutes up the road.
