86th Annual Daytona Beach Bike Week
Feb 26, 2027 – Mar 7, 2027 · 8 AM · Daytona Beach, Florida
About this event
Bike Week gets called a rally, but it started as a race, and the difference still shows. On 24 January 1937 the first Daytona 200 was run over a 3.2-mile course that was half beach sand and half the pavement of A1A, joined at each end by banked turns cut through the dunes. Ed Kretz of California won it on an Indian, averaging 73.34 mph.
Racing stopped for the war and came back after it. Bill France Sr. promoted the event before he went on to found NASCAR, and his family's company still runs the race programme at Daytona International Speedway — which is why, unlike almost every other big American rally, the racing here is the spine of the week rather than a sideshow beside the vendor stalls.
Ten days now, spread across the whole city: the speedway, Main Street end to end with bikes parked three deep, Beach Street, bike shows, live music. Most of the walking about is free; races and concerts are ticketed separately.
It suits any rider, at least once. The scale of it is the point.
