Most charity runs raise money for people. This one raises it for a building, and a good one.
The Tulsa Fire Museum occupies the old Fire Alarm Building on East 8th Street, a 1931 Art Deco block where every alarm in the city once came in by wire before anyone was sent anywhere. The museum was founded in 2015 and keeps the department's history there.
No founder is credited for the run itself. It is the museum's own fundraiser, in its second year, and it has the unfussy feel of one. The route is short and urban rather than a day out in the country: riders gather at the Tulsa Fire Academy on North New Haven Avenue and work a card route across town, finishing at the museum.
So the picture is the finish rather than the road. Bikes lined along a street of warehouses outside a 1931 alarm office with the fire department lettering still on it, and the riders going in to look at the engines.
Short, flat, city traffic. Suits anyone.
