21st Annual 9/11 Memorial Ride & Ceremony
Sunday, September 12, 2027 · Bunnell, Florida
About this event
By the mid-2000s every club in Florida seemed to be running a 9/11 fundraiser. Joe Vece's objection was that nobody was actually remembering anyone, so the Palm Coast chapter of the Knights of the Inferno Firefighters MC built a commemoration instead - and still refuses to take money for it. The way to do a memorial, in his words, is you don't charge for it.
It begins as a ceremony on the Flagler County courthouse steps in Bunnell: prayers read by serving first responders, a fire bell, bagpipes to close. Only then does it become a ride - sixty-five to seventy police-escorted miles north into St Johns County and back down through Volusia, finishing at a Bunnell saloon with barbecue and a band. The Punishers LEMC ride it alongside.
Flat, escorted, free, and open to any street rider. What stays with you is the column of bikes streaming under a flag hoisted overhead.
