2026 Annual Toy Run

About this event
This toy run is older than the building it leaves from. Riders had been doing it for Brenner Children's Hospital for more than two decades before Riding High's showroom went up at the NC 68 junction, and the ride simply came with the business when it moved.
The hospital was announced in May 1986, and the family behind it had been in Winston-Salem a long time by then. Frank Brenner started out in junk and scrap metal in 1921; his sons built that into a company; and it was Herb Brenner who carried the idea of a children's hospital to the family and helped pay for it. Dr Jimmy Simon, then chief of paediatrics, had wanted one for years. It took its own space in 1989 and its present home in 2002, and became North Carolina's first Level 1 paediatric trauma centre in 2011.
Registration from ten, out at one, rain or shine, one unwrapped toy or ten dollars. At the receiving end are a hundred and sixty private rooms, six playrooms and a garden on the roof with playground equipment in it.
