2026 GNCC Racing Series - Round 13 - Buckwheat 100
November 7–8, 2026 · 9 AM · Thornton, WV · Newburg, West Virginia
About this event
The season finale of the national cross country series, held on a reclaimed coal mine in the northern West Virginia hills. The ground gives the course two distinct halves — fast open fields at the front where the lap times are made, and rocky, off-camber, genuinely technical going at the back where they are lost. The dirt is loamy and brown when conditions are kind and turns to sticky black mud when they are not, and there is a sand-and-rock hillside that catches people out either way. Because it closes the season, championships are frequently settled here, which gives it an atmosphere the earlier rounds do not have. Trackside pitting is allowed. There is a chapel service on the Saturday evening and electric mini-bike racing for the youngest entrants. One warning the organisers repeat every year and mean: do not trust a satnav to find the place, and approach from the highway rather than the shortcut it offers.
