10th Annual American Legion Riders Vets for Pets Run
Saturday, June 5, 2027 · TBD · Oneonta, New York
About this event
American Legion Riders posts usually raise money for veterans. Post 259 in Oneonta spends this one on cats and dogs. In the post's own words, every dollar from the Vets for Pets Run goes to three local shelters — the Susquehanna SPCA, the Super Heroes Humane Society, and Friends of the Feral TNR, the last of which was added after the run had already been going some years.
It starts and finishes at the post on Chestnut Street and runs out into the Otsego and Delaware county hills at the northern edge of the Catskills: two-lane farm and forest roads, nothing long, nothing difficult. Registration is late morning and riders are back by mid-afternoon for a fifty-fifty raffle, a Chinese auction and food. Twenty dollars a participant in recent years, and people who do not ride can take part by donating instead.
The image is a Legion car park filling up with motorcycles on a Saturday morning so that a trap-neuter-return programme can keep running another year.
